arriving in Seattle
Location
Downtown Seattle
The Edgewater Hotel is in the Belltown neighborhood of downtown Seattle, situated smack on top of Pier 67, where the city meets the water.
Summer will find the area filled with locals and tourists alike, filling bags with produce and flowers at Pike Place Market, embarking on cruises, and attending attractions and events across the walkable city.

Getting here
Flying In:
Seattle Tacoma airport (SEA) is the closest major airport, located less than 15 miles from the wedding. Uber, Lyft, and taxis (often the cheapest of SeaTac private-ride options) are ubiquitous.
It is very rare for downtown Seattle hotels to offer free airport shuttles, but Link light rail, ride-share, and other transportation options abound, all searchable on the Port of Seattle’s ground transportation webpage.
Pro tip: If you search flights to Seattle, be sure to “include nearby airports” because Paine Field (PAE) is a smaller airport only 22 miles away that offers a posher, lower-stress experience for those of you flying on Alaska or Frontier airlines.
Getting around
Renting a Car:
SeaTac is a major hub for rental cars, which would be a wise choice if you plan to extend your radius beyond the downtown area or stay with loved ones nearby.
Taking Public Transport:
If you plan to stick around the downtown area for the weekend (check out our Things to Do page for ideas and tips — coming soon), we suggest walking, Lyfting, and even bussing over renting a car. A fun Seattle transportation option is the Monorail, an elevated rail line between Westlake Center and the Seattle Center.
All Seattle public transportation gathers fares via ORCA cards, which can be purchased online, through an app, or at card stations throughout the city.
Walking:
The Edgewater (our wedding and reflection brunch venue) and Aqua by El Gaucho (our rehearsal dinner venue) are located only three blocks apart along the flat waterfront.
The waterfront area is in the closing stages of a decade-long rejuvenation project that’s left it beautiful, walkable, and safe. Learn about waterfront updates at the city-sponsored waterfrontseattle.org.
Safety:
For your comfort, consider avoiding 3rd Avenue between Stewart and Union, and 2nd Avenue between Pike and Pine. And at night, avoid walking alone in Belltown east of 1st Avenue and south of Cedar. If you explore to the south, avoid the Pioneer Square area at night as well.
However, do be aware that the city has thrived over the past two years, after the rampant closures of COVID began to wain. Outside of those areas noted above, you shouldn’t need to be concerned for safety or services. In fact, the waterfront and Pike Place Market, where our festivities are centered, are two of the safest—and frankly, most bougie—spots in the city.
